Every Child Matters

At Wonder House, providing the best possible early learning is at the heart of what we do. That’s why we base our curriculum directly on the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and Every Child Matters Framework. These all-inclusive learning programmes provide practices, principles and outcomes for your child, their family, and educators – all of which contribute to your little one’s further development.

INFANT CARE PROGRAMME (UNDER 2 YEARS)

Young children need lots of love and extra-special care, our Infant Care program provides just that for under 2 year olds. Each dedicated infant room is a comfortable place filled with nurturing surroundings and loving care. Our program offers each child one-on-one and group activities, gentle play and safe exploration. It’s stimulating to the development of young minds, without being overwhelming. Each infant’s needs are different, so we have flexible routines for babies under 12 months. There are areas for sleep, relaxation and personal space; as well as opportunities for outdoor experiences in the fresh air, in their own, large outdoor area for under 2s – Wonder Land.

We know how quickly our little ones grow, and to make sure you don’t miss out on all those little breakthroughs that happen each day, your child has their own, learning journal that captures each step of their journey as it unfolds.

TODDLER CARE (2-3 YEARS OLD)

For a toddler the world is a magical place, full of constant learning and exploration. When caring for toddlers we help facilitate their adventure along with positive emotional guidance, helping them to understand the boundaries of their independence. We help provide structure to little lives through a consistent routine which includes free play, structured play, group sessions for music and language, and outdoor experiences. Our encouraging and nurturing staff are sensitive to the individual needs of each toddler’s social and emotional development. Each child also has their own, unique, learning journal, which helps you follow them on their exciting journey of self discovery.

3 YEARS OLD

It’s important that 3 year olds have the time and space to explore their surroundings and develop their independence in a safe and supportive environment. In our 3 Year Old Programme we help develop autonomy and an openness to learning. Our qualified early years practitioners encourage respectfulness and nurture social development skills. Our learning and develop inspired program provides countless opportunities for individual and group learning in language, music, communications and problem solving skills. We also know that that 3 year olds have lots of energy to burn, so our exciting outdoor play areas offer plenty of room for active play. Your child will also have their own, learning journal, so you can see what they’ve been up to and how they’ve grown.

Preschool Programme

4 YEARS OLD

We offer a secure and encouraging environment for children to develop autonomy, focus on respectful relationships and understand social courtesies. We ensure children learn to engage with other individuals, small groups and whole groups, through numerous experiences and structured group sessions for discussion time, music and language. All activities are designed to be flexible and are focused on the learning experience rather than the academic outcome, while literacy and numeracy is introduced naturally through everyday experiences. Our Preschool Program is aimed at preparing our young people for school. We focus on helping children understand and deal with their emotions, to be able to initiate friendships and develop self-confidence and build high self-esteem. We know that social and emotional readiness will assist in successful entry to school, allowing them to be effective learners.

Transition to School Programme Our comprehensive

Transition to a School Programme is delivered by our Teacher. A formal discussion towards the end of the Preschool year is scheduled to share information with parents and teachers and support each child’s transition to school. This discussion provides an opportunity for parents and Educators to collaboratively create a summary of each child’s learning in the form of a transition statement.

Our aim is to ensure that by the time each child completes their Preschool year, they are well equipped with the skills and knowledge needed for a successful transition into a formal school setting.

Extra Activities

Extracurricular Activities

We believe in enriching children’s learning and development by extending our curriculum with specialist extracurricular activities. We have carefully selected activities that will add value to your child’s educational journey, and enhance their time with us at our childcare centre.

Yoga practice

Yoga has so many benefits for children; on a physical level, yoga develops strength, coordination, and balance. Mental benefits include improved concentration, mental awareness, and a sense of calmness. Our children love our weekly calm yoga classes taught by our trained children’s yoga co-ordinator. We feel it is very important for all children including young babies to be able to express themselves and discover what their bodies can do.

Sports programme

The Wonder Champion of the week programme is developed for young children to be encouraged to play openly and freely as open-ended play has a very positive impact on young children. These lessons are very carefully designed to develop children’s gross motor skills, support hand-eye coordination, teach teamwork skills and turn taking. Physical activity encourages mental and emotional development and also promotes personal growth. Young Children enjoy exciting FREE sporting games and activities such as kicking, throwing, bike riding, trike riding, jumping, catching, skipping, tumbling and gross motor fitness. All of these athletic skills are introduced with a wide range of success depending on the individual toddler’s development state.
