Our Excursions

From visits to the Ryde Library to nature exploration in the parks and going to the beach, our fun and engaging excursions have been designed to take your child’s learning outside of the common classroom setting and into the wonderful world around us. Wonder House is perfectly positioned in the heart of the Ryde, meaning we are within easy walking distance to so many local attractions; such as: Ryde beach,Ryde Pier, IOW Bus and Coach Museum, Ryde Library and so much more. The Woodland located right next door to us provides a beautiful and natural environment for your child to enjoy as they learn and play.

Educational Visits

Our children enjoy a number of carefully selected educational visits throughout the year. These guests complement our curriculum and extend our children’s learning and interests. Visits from the dentist teach our children important dental hygiene practices and promote a sense of health and wellbeing. Young children often have a strong interest in firefighters and fire engines, and we incorporate visits from the fire brigade into our specialist visitors program, allowing children to learn important fire safety lessons and also feel a connection with their local heros and build a sense of community. Culture and diversity is an important part of our philosophy and curriculum, and we actively promote this with visitors that focus on cultural education. This programme allows our children to meet people from a varying professions and walks of life, and can help them choose real life role models that can inspire their future. We value parent contribution into all of our educational programmes, and therefore we actively encourage parent involvement in our programme.

Extracurricular Activities

We believe in enriching children’s learning and development by extending our curriculum with specialist extracurricular activities. We have carefully selected activities that will add value to your child’s educational journey, and enhance their time with us at our childcare centre.

Sports programme

The Wonder Champion of the week programme is developed for young children to be encouraged to play openly and freely as open-ended play has a very positive impact on young children. These lessons are very carefully designed to develop children’s gross motor skills, support hand-eye coordination, teach teamwork skills and turn taking. Physical activity encourages mental and emotional development and also promotes personal growth. Young Children enjoy exciting FREE sporting games and activities such as kicking, throwing, bike riding, trike riding, jumping, catching, skipping, tumbling and gross motor fitness. All of these athletic skills are introduced with a wide range of success depending on the individual toddler’s development state.

Yoga practice

Yoga has so many benefits for children; on a physical level, yoga develops strength, coordination, and balance. Mental benefits include improved concentration, mental awareness, and a sense of calmness. Our children love our weekly calm yoga classes taught by our trained children’s yoga co-ordinator. We feel it is very important for all children including young babies to be able to express themselves and discover what their bodies can do.

They can also explore their natural environment and develop a sense of wonder and curiosity.
